EHCP
Today has been pretty full on.
The deadline for submitting our comments and amendments for the draft EHCP is Tuesday 3rd April. I had requested an extension due to the Easter holiday but we were denied.
I have had to shut myself away for the whole day to collate, read and put together the necessary information to email to our case worker. Thank goodness for Robert’s Clinical Psychologist as I wouldn’t have known where to start.
Our son is currently signed off as medically unfit for school on mental health grounds. Being off school is really not helping him as he is shutting himself off from the outside world and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get him out of the house.
The one maintained school that the local authority have applied to does not have space (I’m actually glad as we do not believe it to be suitable for his needs). They are unable to consult with non-maintained schools all the time that he is signed off. So……..he has been signed as fit to attend a suitable placement that can meet his needs so that we can move forward. Not sure how this affects us legally as he is still registered at his mainstream placement so will this show as non attendance? It’s all such a worry.
Anyway, I’m a little worried about tomorrow. It’s Easter which means a deviation from the norm which enormously raises anxiety levels, not quite to the extent of Christmas but its a struggle all the same.
Oh well, it’s just another day in the life of a family living with Autism.
Until next time…….
